John Donne says:

No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of
the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away
by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were,
as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any
mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It
tolls for thee.

i'm reading for whom the bell tolls by ernest hemingway … it's really good. i'm done with the course in creative writing now; i've written a few short stories, some of which you can find here, and lots of shitty poetry too. until june I'll be taking a course in literature so that, in a few months, I can tell you what I thought about for whom the bell tolls apart from it being "really good." distance studies suited me so well i thought it'd be hard to be back in school physically but i've been to a few lectures and my first seminar this week and it's all very interesting; i'm excited, not bored. i struggle with urges to yawn in class, though - i think i breathe less often when i'm concentrating.

i've made friends with the smartest ppl in class already which is a relief.

some of my new yrs resolutions are to cook korean food more often, watch "good old movies," read a specific number of books, and speak the truth.
